At the watering hole
The popular Urban Vines winery in Westfield now brews beer! The winery officially opened this past May and has already hit its 5-year revenue goal in six months.

Urban Vines released their first beers, a Mad Scientist IPA and a Smokehead Scottish Ale in November. A bourbon barrel stout and German pilsner are set to be released in December.

With 80 percent of customers being female, Urban Vines is hoping that adding beer will attract more couples with the integration of  the new brews.

Politics at its best

On a December 4th meeting, the Advisory Plan Commission heard concerns from the public regarding a new development proposal that could be used to sustain Woodwind Golf Club. The Westchester Planned Unit Development is a proposal that would span 310 acres east of Towne Road between between 156th and 166th streets and would include 360 single-family homes.

Homebuilders within this proposal include Beezer, Pulte, and Drees. This proposal would call for the closing of Woodwinds driving range. Residents are concerned with overcrowding of schools, weak architectural standards, preserving woodlands, and having adequate open space.
