Keeping you in the loop

The City has launched a new website to keep us all in the loop!  They have launched a re-vamped version of its hospitality and events website, www.westfieldwelcome.com.

The site redesign features community events, dining and retail options, an e-newsletter sign-up and blog. Local businesses, churches and schools can also advertise on the site, and will be featured on the city of Westfield mobile app.

Designed to feature local businesses and events to tourists and residents alike, the Westfield Welcome initiative was launched in 2014. Westfield Welcome also provides volunteer opportunities for residents.

To sign up for volunteer opportunities, promote your business or view upcoming events, visit www.westfieldwelcome.com.

Politics at its best

The City Council is working hard to attract businesses to our community.  Monday evening, the Westfield City Council approved the Haworth Business Park Planned Unit Development District ordinance. This ordinance will help fill the demand of businesses wanting to build or relocate to Westfield.

“Currently Westfield has very low inventory of land that has been zoned industrial,” explains Mayor Andy Cook. “This approval offers opportunity for more commercial development which will diversify the tax base.”

The rezoned area is approximately 40 acres of land located on the southeast corner of 169th St and Oak Ridge Road. The area was rezoned from agriculture to enclosed industrial. It will continue the industrial development that already exists with the adjacent South Park Business Park.

Neighborhood Chat

Kroger is getting a facelift!  You may have noticed, Kroger's (161st & Spring Mill) parking lot is being paved!  Paving will be done at night to avoid interruptions during the day.  Paving dates are June 12, 13, 20, 26 and 27th from 9pm to 6am. Wear your earplugs at night if you live nearby.

School of Rock

Once again, our amazing school district is offering a new summer lunch program!  If you haven’t heard, free weekday lunches will be provided this summer at Casey Acres and North Glen Village for all children 18 and younger!  Children do not have to be students in Westfield Washington Schools.

The Westfield Washington Schools/Sodexo Summer Lunch Rocks Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. These neighborhoods were selected and qualify for the program thru US Census Data.

They are looking for volunteers so if you’re interested, click here to sign-up!

In other school news, don't forget textbook rental is going electronic!  In an effort to save money and increase efficiency, annual textbook rental invoices will be delivered to parents via email. In the past, parents received a brightly colored invoice in the mail with details on the fees for the coming school year. This summer, look for an email with a unique, secure link and instructions on how to download and pay your invoice. Parents will receive one email for each child they have in the district. Parents of students going into grades K-6 will receive the email in July; parents of students going into grades 7-12 will receive the email in September.

Visit the Westfield School's Facebook Page for updates.
